Al Halwani - The Fatimid Trilogy Novel Discussion

Reem Bassiouney, the SZBA2024 literature award winner, gave an introduction to her historical novel "Al Halwani: The Fatimid Trilogy" in collaboration with Al Multaqa Literary Salon. She discussed her project to write historical novels about Egypt in the Middle Ages, where she hopes to shed light on the Egyptian character through narratives that intertwine poetry, architecture, and mythology, while emphasising the human dimension. She works to create a narrative of historical and social development in Egypt during that time period, using a narrative tone that is appropriate for the nature of that extended historical period, as well as its intellectual and social aspects.
