Translation: Bridging the Gap Between French and Arab Cultures

The Sheikh Zayed Book Award hosted a major seminar on strengthening ties between Arab and French cultures at the prestigious Arab World Institute in Paris, France on Monday July 7th 2008 and joined together an elite audience of Arab cultural figures including writers, artists and publishers. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Waciny Laredj, winner of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award for Literature in 2007. Also on the panel were: Dr. Georges Zinaty, 2007 Sheikh Zayed Book Award Winner for Translation Kadhim Jihad, writer, translator and Professor at the Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales, Gilbert Grand-guillaume, a leading academic who has published several works on Arabic cultures and language.
