Deadline for Sheikh Zayed Book Award Nominations Approaches

Last call for 2016-2017 nominations
Abu Dhabi 25 September 2016- The Sheikh Zayed book Award reiterated today that the call for nominations for its 11th session will end on October 1st, 2016. Interested authors, translators and publishers can still apply online up until the closing date via Award’s website www.zayedaward.ae.
The Award received a total of 1,025 nominations to date from over 54 countries worldwide. The “Young Author” and “Literature” categories are still in the lead, with 344 and 256 nominated works respectively, while “Best Contribution to the Development of Nations” category followed with 138 titles and “Literary Art and Criticism” category with 102 titles.
Following the announced closing date, the reading panels will commence their work with the first stage of assessment led by the Secretary General Dr Ali Bin Tamim. This stage will be followed by the judging panels’ evaluations which last till end of January 2017. After that, the Scientific Committee reviews the judges’ reports and announces the short-lists and the winning titles sequentially by April 2017.
Sheikh Zayed Book Award recognizes outstanding writers, intellectuals, publishers as well as young talents whose writings and translations of humanities promote Arab Culture.
