Sheikh Zayed Book Award announces closing of nominations for its ninth session

Award Secretary General: 90 potential winners
A total of 90 submissions were named in the Sheikh Zayed Book Award’s long list following the wrap up of its nominations phase for the 9th Edition of 2014/2015.
On this occasion, said Dr. Ali Bin Tamim , Secretary General of Sheikh Zayed Award for the book, said, "This list is the best expression of the high position attained by Sheikh Zayed Book Award, as it becomes one of the central cultural prizes in the region and the world which authors and translators aspire to receive " .
He added "Arriving at the long list was a vigorous and extensive exercise, based on specific scientific standards, thereafter the books will be delivered to the Judges for the next selection steps towards the shortlist”.
It was noteworthy to mention that the highest submissions for the ninth Edition of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award came from Egypt, UAE, Lebanon, Iraq, Tunisia, Morocco, and Jordan.
The award recognizes cultural achievement across one of the broadest and most diverse areas of any cultural awards internationally, including: “Contribution to the Development of Nations”; “Children’s Literature” [including adolescents books]; “Young Author”; “Translation”; “Literature”; “Literary and Art Criticism”; “Arabic Culture in non-Arab language”; “Publishing and Technology”; and “Cultural Personality of the Year”.
