Sheikh Zayed Book Award Longlist Announced for “Young Author” & “Children’s Literature”

Abu Dhabi, September 21, 2014 – The Sheikh Zayed Book Award announced today its long-list for both categories; “Young Author” and “Children’s Literature”. The announcement comes after the Award’s Reading Panels concluded their work earlier this month.
The “Young Author” longlist includes nine works from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco, Lebanon and UAE with a variety of genres including novels, cultural and literary studies:

Last year, Jawdat Fakhr-elDine from Lebanon won the “Children’s Literature” title for his Book “Thirty Poems for Children”, while Rami Abu Shihab from Jordan was named winner of “Young Author” Award for his book analyzing the Post-Colonial discourse in the contemporary Arab criticism.
The award comprises of nine categories where the total monetary prize stands at seven million UAE dirhams. Each prize consists of a gold medal bearing the SZBA logo, a certificate of merit and 750,000.00 Dirhams. The Cultural Personality of the Year winner receives a prize of one million dirhams
