Rasheed Alkhayoun is an Iraqi academic and writer residing in the UK. He holds a PhD in Arab-Islamic philosophy and has held various positions in teaching, academic supervision, and cultural journalism. He is a member of the editorial board at the Al-Mesbar Studies and Research Centre and a cultural advisor at the King Faisal Centre for Research and Islamic Studies. Alkhayoun has written for several Arab newspapers and magazines, including Asharq Al-Awsat, Al-Hayat, and Al-Ittihad, and has received multiple honours, such as the King Abdulaziz Book Award for historical studies, as well as the Best Essayist Award from the Dubai Press and Media Forum in 2022. Alkhayoun has authored nearly 30 books on Islamic jurisprudence, intellectual history, and heritage, including ‘Punishment and Exaggeration in Islamic Jurisprudence and Heritage’, ‘Religions and Sects in Iraq: Past and Present’, and ‘Brethren of Purity: Admiration and Amazement’.
